However, the date changes every year because of a law that makes many holidays fall on Mondays. In 2025, MLK Day will be on January 20. Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights leader who fought to end racism and segregation in the U.S. through peaceful protests. He became famous during the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott and later led the 1963 March on Washington, where he gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. His efforts helped bring important changes, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and he won the Nobel Peace Prize that same year.
